Terms of Service

Effective October 14, 2026. Code Crafted Nexus LLC, 160 Harris St, Grand Rivers, KY 42045. Questions: support@discero.ai.

1. Who we are and what Discero is

Discero is a study tool from Code Crafted Nexus LLC ("we", "us"). On discero.ai you can upload or record a class, and Discero makes a transcript, summary, notes and quizzes, and offers a guided AI tutor. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms. The Discero desktop apps are covered by the Code Crafted Nexus Terms.

2. Your account

You sign in with your email and a one-time code. You must be at least 18 years old to use Discero, and you confirm this when you sign up. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, or that the age confirmation was false, we may close the account. Keep your account to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used it.

3. Lecture hours, packs and plans

  • Your first hour is free. After that, processing a recording uses lecture hours, rounded up to the next tenth of an hour, with a minimum of 0.1 hour per recording.
  • Credit packs (Starter 10 h, Semester 40 h, Year 100 h) are one-time purchases. Hours from packs do not expire.
  • Monthly plans (15 h or 40 h) renew automatically every month, at $19 (15 h) or $45 (40 h), until you cancel. Monthly hours are added each month and reset at the next renewal.
  • If processing fails because of an error on our side, the hours are returned to your account.
  • Prices are in US dollars. We may change prices for future purchases. Completed purchases and your current billing period are not affected. If we raise the price of a monthly plan you already have, we will tell you by email before the change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.

4. Payments

Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle collects payment details and applicable sales tax or VAT and sends you the receipt. We never see your full card number.

5. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel a monthly plan at any time, online, with the "Manage or cancel plan" button in your Discero account, or through your Paddle receipt. You do not need to email us or give a reason. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep your hours until the end of the paid month. Refunds are described in the Refund Policy.

6. Your content and what you may upload

You keep ownership of everything you upload or record. You give us permission to store it and process it, including by sending it to our AI providers, only to run Discero for you. You confirm that you hold all the rights, permissions and licenses needed to submit it for your personal, non-commercial study. Do not publish, sell or publicly share transcripts or summaries that include copyrighted instructional material without permission.

Upload or record only material you have the right to use. Many schools, instructors and places have rules or laws about recording classes and about recording other people. You are responsible for following them and for getting any permission you need. Do not upload anything unlawful, anything that infringes someone else's rights, or anything that targets or harms other people.

You agree to defend and indemnify us against third-party claims that arise from content you upload or record, from recording without the consent you need, or from your breach of these Terms, to the extent the law allows.

If you believe something stored on Discero infringes your copyright, follow the steps in our Copyright Policy. We may remove content after a valid complaint and we close the accounts of repeat infringers.

7. AI can make mistakes

Transcripts, summaries, quiz answers and tutor replies are produced by AI and can be wrong or incomplete. Discero is a study aid. It is no substitute for your instructor, your textbook or qualified human help. Check anything that matters, especially before an exam, an assignment or a decision. The tutor is built to guide you toward answers, not to hand you final answers, and you are responsible for following your school's academic integrity rules.

8. Acceptable use

Do not misuse the service: no attempts to break or overload it, to get around hour limits, to resell access, or to use it to build a competing product. We may limit or suspend an account that does, and we may limit how many recordings process at once to keep the service fair.

9. Storage and deletion

Uploaded or recorded video is kept for 30 days, then replaced with audio only. Transcripts, summaries and notes stay in your account until you delete them. You can download your data and delete your account at any time from inside the app. See the Privacy Policy.

10. Availability

We work to keep Discero running but cannot promise it will always be available or error free. We may change or retire features, and will give notice of changes that matter to paid plans.

11. Limits on our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, Discero is provided "as is". We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data, grades or profits. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and $50. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

12. Resolving disputes

Please contact us first at support@discero.ai and give us 30 days to try to resolve the problem.

If we cannot, you and we agree to resolve any dispute through final and binding individual arbitration run by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, instead of going to court. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either of us may ask a court to stop infringement of intellectual property or misuse of the service. The arbitration can be held by video or phone, or in the county where you live, and we pay the fees we are required to pay under those rules. You and we each give up the right to a jury trial and the right to bring or join a class action or representative action. If many similar claims are filed together, they may be handled in batches under the arbitration provider's rules.

You can opt out. Within 30 days of creating your account, email support@discero.ai with the subject "Arbitration opt-out" and your account email. If you opt out, disputes go to the state or federal courts in Kentucky. If this section cannot be enforced for a claim, that claim goes to court. Nothing here limits rights you have under law that cannot be waived.

13. Law and contact

These Terms are governed by Kentucky law, except where local consumer law requires otherwise. We may update these Terms and will post the new date here; continuing to use Discero after a change means you accept it. Contact: support@discero.ai, 1-270-291-0125.

Privacy Policy

Effective October 14, 2026. Code Crafted Nexus LLC, 160 Harris St, Grand Rivers, KY 42045. Questions: support@discero.ai.

This policy covers the Discero web app at discero.ai. The Discero desktop apps keep your lectures on your own computer and are covered by the Code Crafted Nexus Privacy Policy.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address and your sign-in records.
  • Your lectures: the video or audio you upload or record, the transcript, summary, notes, quizzes, bookmarks and tutor conversations made from it, and the title, course name and vocabulary you enter.
  • Hours and purchases: a record of hours granted and used, and the order details Paddle gives us (order id, plan and email). We do not receive your card number.
  • Messages: anything you send us through the contact page or by email.

How we use it

Only to run Discero for you: to sign you in, process your recordings, show your lectures and notes, count your hours, handle billing and support, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your information and do not use your lectures for advertising.

Who handles it for us

  • OpenAI turns speech into text. Audio from your recordings is sent to it.
  • Anthropic (Claude) writes summaries, quizzes, translations and tutor replies. Text from your transcript and your questions is sent to it.
  • Supabase provides sign-in and stores your hours record.
  • Resend sends our emails, such as your sign-in code.
  • Paddle processes payments as merchant of record and is responsible for your payment data under its own privacy policy.
  • Our server hosting provider stores your uploaded files and lecture data.

These companies handle your information to provide their service to us under their own terms. We send them only what a feature needs.

Cookies

Discero does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser stores your sign-in session and your light or dark theme choice so the site works.

How long we keep it

  • Video: 30 days, then replaced by audio only.
  • Transcripts, summaries and notes: until you delete the lecture or your account.
  • Backups: we keep encrypted nightly backups of notes, transcripts and audio (not video) for up to 14 days. If you delete your account or a lecture, it can remain in those backups for up to 14 days and is then removed automatically.
  • Purchase and hours records: kept as long as the law and our accounting require, even after you delete your account.

Your choices

In the app you can download everything in your account and delete your account, which removes your lectures, notes and sign-in. You can also email us to ask what we hold about you or to ask for correction or deletion. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, and we will honor them.

Security and children

Your files are kept in a private folder per account and are served through links that expire. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not upload anything you are not willing to store online. Discero is for people 18 and older. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its content. Discero is sold to individual students. We do not currently provide accounts through schools.

Other people's voices

A recorded class may contain other people's voices or names. You are responsible for having the right to upload it. If you believe a recording of you was uploaded without permission, email us and we will look into it.

Discero turns speech into text. It does not identify people by their voice, does not create voiceprints, and does not match voices across recordings. The optional speaker labels (instructor, classmate or mixed) are guessed from the words in the transcript, not from the sound of anyone's voice.

Why we are allowed to use your information (EU and UK)

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, we rely on these legal bases: to carry out our contract with you (running Discero, counting hours, billing and support); our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure, preventing abuse and fraud, and improving reliability); legal obligations (tax and accounting records); and your consent where we ask for it, which you can withdraw at any time.

Transfers outside your country

We are based in the United States, and our providers process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires, we rely on safeguards such as the standard contractual clauses our providers offer.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your information, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a portable format, object to or restrict some uses, and withdraw consent. You can download your data and delete your account in the app, or email support@discero.ai. We aim to answer within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. We do not treat you differently for using these rights.

California and other US states

In the past 12 months we collected the categories of information listed in "What we collect" (identifiers such as your email, your uploaded recordings and the transcripts and notes made from them, and purchase records), for the purposes in "How we use it". We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising across other companies' sites. State laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act give residents rights to know, delete and correct their information. Use the contact details above. You may ask someone to make a request for you; we may need to check their authority.

If something goes wrong

If a security incident affects your information, we will investigate quickly, tell you and the authorities as the law requires, and explain what happened and what you can do.

Our providers list

The companies named in "Who handles it for us" are our current providers. We will update that list when it changes and will tell account holders of changes that matter.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy we will post the new date here. Contact: support@discero.ai, 1-270-291-0125, Code Crafted Nexus LLC, 160 Harris St, Grand Rivers, KY 42045.

Refund Policy

Effective October 14, 2026. Code Crafted Nexus LLC, 160 Harris St, Grand Rivers, KY 42045. Questions: support@discero.ai.

14-day money-back guarantee

You may request a full refund within 14 days of a purchase if you have used fewer than 2 hours of processing time from that purchase. If you have used 2 hours or more, we will refund the value of your unused hours (the price you paid, divided by the hours you bought, times the hours you have left). We limit this to one refund per customer. To ask, email support@discero.ai within 14 days of the purchase.

Credit packs

This covers the Starter, Semester and Year packs. When we refund a pack, the hours from that purchase that remain are removed from your account.

Monthly plans

The same rule applies to any monthly payment: ask within 14 days of that payment. You can cancel at any time with the "Manage or cancel plan" button in your account. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep your hours until the end of the paid month.

Customers in the EU and UK

If you live in the EU or UK, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance purchase. For digital services, that statutory right ends once we begin providing the service with your agreement, and Paddle's checkout shows the required notice. Our refund promise above is in addition to any rights the law gives you that cannot be waived.

If something goes wrong

If a recording fails to process because of an error on our side, the hours are returned automatically. If you were charged twice or charged by mistake, email us and we will fix it.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go through Paddle, the platform used for the original purchase, and usually reach the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank or card issuer.
